My Everyday Work Makeup

One of the best things I’ve done for my motivation this past month was getting up every day, changing out of my pyjamas into casual work clothes and putting on a face of makeup. Some people might find that weird to do when you work from home, but I’ve realized that just the act of “getting ready” as I would when going into an office job pushes me into acting like today isn’t a rest day—I actually have to get work done! It also makes me using my favourite mascara less fruitless because at least a busy day of work came out of it.

I always love reading posts like these from other writers who work from home because you can go as crazy or as simple as you want to with your makeup during the day; it’s the perfect time to play around with interesting shades that you might not want to wear out in public just yet. Below are a few of the basics I wear on a daily basis when it comes to my makeup.

My Everyday Work Makeup

Base:

I tend to switch it up between two foundations; one liquid and one powder. On the days that I don’t want to spend too much time, I’ll use the Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation because it’s super easy to apply and gives me a matte finish which is usually what I opt for. On days when I want a bit of a dewy look I use my go-to liquid foundation—The Ordinary Serum Foundation. I never really understood why so many people opted for liquid foundations until I found this one. It works perfectly for my yellow/golden undertones and isn’t as thick as other liquid foundations I’ve tried in the past. As for the under eyes, I’ve been really loving the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer because it’s easy to blend out while still covering my dark circles. When It comes to highlighter, I usually go for the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz or the Becca highlighter in Champagne Pop

Eyes:

I usually go for something light and sparkly on my lids, so lately I’ve been loving the NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Alhambra and switch between the pink and golden shade. I’ve also really gotten into the NYX Warm Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette because of all it’s brownish-pink shades that come in both mattes and shimmers. I’ll usually just pop on one shade on the entire lid and call it a day, always using the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Priming Potion to avoid creasing. I then top it all off with my favourite mascara—Too Faced Better Than Sex.

Cheeks:

I keep it pretty simple with blush and will be sharing a more in-depth post about my daily blushes soon, but I typically go for brownish-pink tones as I find they suit my skin tone the best. Most days I reach for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure. It offers a super soft and natural colour with just the slightest bit of shimmer to make your skin look more lively and less dull.

Lips:

I’ll be honest here and say that most days I just use vaseline to coat my lips because they tend to get pretty dry during the colder months, so I’ll typically have that close to me while I work. But, if I am in the mood to get a bit c r a z y with my daily face, I’ll use a moisturizing lipstick so that I can get the best of both worlds with. My current favourites are the No7 Sheer Temptation Lipsticks in Blooming Pink and Pretty Please.
