BROW AND FACE MAKEUP ADDITIONS

For anyone that follows my blog, you probably already know that I’m not much of a makeup person, but I do genuinely enjoy it. I’ve already documented my favourite makeup products so there’s not much to discuss on that front, but I thought I’d talk about two more that I picked up and currently love.

I always thought I was the kind of person that wouldn’t be caught dead with any sort of brow makeup. It seemed frivolous and anytime I saw it in makeup tutorials it always looked overdone to me. My opinion has shifted slightly after watching Violette_fr on Youtube, a makeup artist who keeps the makeup natural and the skincare paramount. I’d recommend checking out her channel if you too don’t like too much makeup but enjoy experimenting with it.

In a few of her videos (obviously I binged them all) I noticed that she used a bit of eyebrow mascara just to give her brows a bit of oomph. Instantly it clicked that I also didn’t have to invest time and money on a bunch of products for the boxy brow look that Instagram favours and picked up a brow set from MAC. So far it’s been incredibly easy to use and doesn’t make me feel like I’m overdoing my makeup, rather adds a finishing touch that I never realized I could. If you’re like me and are intimidated by anything other than mascara and lipstick I’d definitely suggest giving this product a try. It doesn’t leave your brows stiff like I expected and I haven’t experienced any fallout throughout the day—both wins!

The second product I picked up is the Anastasia Beverly Hills concealer. Again, inspired by Violette, I wanted to achieve a very natural yet bright look with something other than foundation as I find it tends to make me look and feel cakey. The great thing about this product is that it can double as a foundation because of how thick the formula is, so a little bit for under the eyes goes a long way. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now and already fallen in love with how natural it looks and how resilient it is throughout the day. Finding the right shade for me was a bit tricky, but I took my time doing it and even had to go back to Sephora once to make an exchange because it didn’t quite match me at first.

Now that summer is on it’s way I wanted to start phasing out any products from my collection that I didn’t love and made me feel overdone. So, I got rid of my liquid foundation, deciding to focus on skincare and concealer.

Let me know what products you're loving; I’m always looking for some suggestions!
