The past few weeks have been…intense, to say the least. I’ve experienced a lot of change, self-discovery, and a few mental breakdowns. But, hey, who doesn’t every once in a while? Seeing as I’m getting back into my blogging groove I thought I would kick this week off with another post dedicated to all the things that I’ve been loving lately. I can’t say my interests change all that much from month to month, but it’s always interesting to see what crops up in these posts when I feel inspired to write them.
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo
I have been coveting this product for months! Specifically the 7DayWkd/Poolside duo because of how pretty the purple-blue shade is. And of course because of Rihanna’s vogue video where she did a tutorial on how the highlight can be used as eyeshadow. For a while I held off on another makeup purchase, primarily because I have spent quite a lot of money on eyeshadows this year, but when Fenty Beauty was released in Boots I couldn’t resist. So glad I didn’t!
The shade of blue is exactly what I was hoping for—not too cool toned where it would be very bright on the lids, but a pop of colour that was a bit more subtle. The only complaint I have about it as an eyeshadow is that even with my all time favourite primer it didn’t last the entire day, which most eyeshadows usually do when I use it as a base. I might have to add an extra layer next time I wear it just to be sure. Other than that, I’m obsessed.
A New Job
I talked about getting a new job in a recent post, and after having been there for a few weeks I have a bit more to say. While on the one hand it’s been fun getting out of the house and getting paid to write about fashion and beauty, it is also completely different from my last job where I worked from home. As an introvert it’s been hard getting used to the routine of seeing and talking to people from morning to evening every day. I always find myself completely exhausted by the time I get home, not really in the mood to do anything other than curl up in bed and watch Netflix.
However, starting this new job and seeing the opportunities that are available for content writers has inspired me to give my freelance business another go and really try. I often get bogged down by all the “adulting” that goes into running a business that I loose momentum with my work and the drive that’s necessary to find clients to sustain the income I need. So, even though I’ve started a new job, I’m already thinking about another one that I want to get off the ground.
I know that this love is kind of out of place among the others on this list, but I just couldn’t leave it off. For some reason, I have fallen into an obsession with ramen from a restaurant near my flat. I’ve been riding this ramen wave since early April and I just can’t seem to stop. It’s become a running joke between my boyfriend and I because anytime we try to decide what we want to order in for dinner, I always opt for ramen.
It has finally warmed up here in London, and aren’t I the millionth person to say that? The weather is pretty much what the English talk about on a daily basis and I seem to have been indoctrinated. As a Canadian, used to blistering cold and then burning heat, I can’t really complain about the weather in London at all. It’s fairly mild here all year long, and yet, I still find myself incredibly excited that it’s finally dress season. There’s not really much else to say about this love, I just thought I’d mention it as a way of welcoming in the new season.
Yes, I’ve jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself a KeepCup. When I started my new job I found myself buying coffee almost every day and never having a reusable cup with me, so I decided to become a bit more environmentally mindful and buy one. The KeepCup doesn’t keep the coffee warmer than a paper cup, but I do love the cork sleeve and that it’s glass rather than plastic. I’m interested in seeing how it holds up after a few months and whether I’ll accidentally shatter it one of these days.
What have you been loving lately?
