One thing about me that I may not write about all that often on this blog is that I love podcasts, sometimes even more than listening to music. I've always been very interested in conversations, casually listening to friends discuss topics when we go out rather than always participate in it myself. It's very satisfying to take the time and absorb information rather than just scroll past news articles or Instagram pictures, and podcasts seem to satisfy this desire for me.
Since podcasts became increasingly popular over the years, I've met many people that enjoy them as much as I do and offer suggestions of some that I still listen to today. For today's post I thought I would do my reader's the courtesy and provide a list of my current favourite podcasts in case anyone out there is looking for something good to listen to during their 9-5 desk job or lengthy commutes.
1) The Minimalist Podcast
This one of the most popular podcasts at the moment and for good reason. If you need some motivation to get your finances back on track or even to just become a bit more mindful in your day to day life, then this would be a great podcast to check out.
2) Adam Ruins Everything
If you like being a know-it-all or just simply learning the truth to many common misconceptions then this podcast is worth the listen. Adam speaks with specialists in their fields to get to the bottom of certain myths and even has a fairly funny TV show dedicated to it.
It's hard to really explain this podcast to someone who hasn't listened to it, but I promise the story is incredibly interesting and heartfelt. I don't want to go into it any more than that because I don't want to spoil the mystery surrounding it. The basic premise is a journalist visiting a small town called 'Shit Town' because of how rundown the community is and he meets some very interesting people along the way.
4) Insanely Chill w/ Cody Ko
If you're looking for some laughs then this podcast is one of my favourites for doing just that. Cody Ko is a Youtuber I discovered a few months ago and am incredibly happy I did. As someone without any professional comedic experience, he always manages to make me laugh just by sitting down and talking to his camera.
5) Sword and Scale
Of course I had to mention a true crime podcast in this list. Currently I've been loving Sword and Scale because of how in depth they go into the stories that explore each week. I won't lie, the content can be sometimes graphic, but my fascination with learning about the human psyche and what pushes people to do the things they do doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon and this podcast has been a great listen to for it.
