I've mentioned this before in previous blog posts, but what would it hurt to say it once again. I'm obsessed with nail polish. This probably stems from my mother’s equal obsession with it as I was growing up and allowing me to inherit certain colours I liked that were still usable and not clumpy or discoloured. While I may not have the biggest collection, I find comfort in taking some time once in a while to put on nail polish, so I tend to be in and out of my collection on a regular basis. A few weeks ago I decided to have a bit of a clean out and get rid of any colours or brands I don’t particularly like, which has left me with the polishes that I absolutely love to apply during various seasons throughout the year. This post will discuss a few of my favourite fall polishes and maybe that will inspire me to write about my entire collection at some point.
I have always liked the edgy look of black nail polish, but was never able to pull it off. It always seemed to harsh for my skin tone and general style so when I discovered navy blue I was relieved. It gives the perfect amount of edginess without being too aggressive on the hands. While I think all nail polishes can be worn year around, I have been saving this colour for fall because it fits the season perfectly and tends to go with most of the outfits I wear during colder days. Essie is not always my go-to brand for polishes because I find that some colours apply to thick and clumpy, but this once has been super easy and smooth to use.
I don’t have much more to say about this polish than the first one because they are almost identical except for the colours. The application is easy and smooth and both tend to last fairly long with a good top coat. However, this colour is one that I like to wear year round. There’s something summery about a good plum, burgundy colour which makes it the perfect transition shade between the seasons.

This is where I get a bit uneasy about Essie’s formula and application. While I love the colour—a dark, earthy green—the the texture of the polish has been a bit difficult to work with and seems to take hours to dry. Maybe I’ve picked up a bad batch, but it does become a bit tedious when I’m in a rush or want to go to sleep instead of waiting for it to dry. Despite all that, the colour is what I stay for and I’ve been excited to bust this one out again. Much like After School Boy Blazer, this colour is the perfect amount of edgy without being too garish or overpowering. I have a few greens in my collection that I might discuss later on, but this I think this is the perfect one for fall.
I seem to have taken a step away from the dark shades and moved towards a pinky-brown to exhibit fall this year. This may seem a bit off compared the previous colours I’ve talked about, but I’ve always felt that pink with brown undertones is a good transition colour from the warm summer to the chilly fall. I’ve only worn this nail polish once since purchasing it, but I already know that I like the formula and the big brush for application. Also, Sally Hansen products always seem to dry faster than other’s and that’s key for me. There a few muted and dark pinks in my collection, but this is my favourite for the time being and plan on wearing it a few more times before we dive head first into winter.
